ABOUT THE ARTIST
Deck WGF is a graffiti writer/artist from Brooklyn, New York who has been working on his craft since 1985. His artistic styles are influenced by the graffiti artists from the late 70’s and 80’s era which is where he developed his strong passion and work ethic from. His belief in the graffiti itself means you must be a vandal first and there are consequences, and Deck has had several run in with law because of his love for his craft. He was labeled a street bomber during the late 90’s in New York because anywhere you go in the city you would see his tag. In 2000 Deck decided to divert his energy to the artistic side of graffiti from two color pieces to full out productions. He realized that he had a true gift that the world needed to see and he continued to push himself daily to improve in different areas. As Deck continued to improve, other people began to notice and began to hire him to paint murals, paint canvases, and many other artistic expressions for their businesses. Deck took a break in from his craft in 2002 when he moved to Texas and has recently rejoined the art in 2007 where he has shown that he has not missed a step.

Sat. Jan, 7th! Dirty Dozen Ice Competition At Discovery Green!
Dirty Dozen: 4th Annual Ice Sculpting Competition at Discovery Green

On Saturday, January 7 one dozen acclaimed ice artists from around the country including Illinois, California and Alaska will compete for a cash prize, people’s choice award and ice game clout. Ice sculptors use chainsaws, blow torches, razor sharp chisels and talent to transform blocks of ice into amazing works of art in five hours. Join Discovery Green park-goers, DLG Ice Factory and many more for this all day event with emcee GONZO247 of Aerosol Warfare.
This year the competition features ice blocks harvested using more than 1500 gallons of recycled rain water, in keeping with Discovery Green’s mission and following the competition the ice will be used to water the park’s landscaping.
Each year thousands attend this event to watch the carvers battle it out for the grand prize. Ice master Buddy Rasmussen took the grand prize in 2011 and will be back in 2012 to defend his title. Music throughout the day provided by DJ CAPS ONE. The event concludes with the announcement of the winning team as DownFall 2012 performs for a grand finale ice fight between The Reverend Butter and the winning master carvers on the Anheuser-Busch stage.
This event is family friendly and free and open to the public.

GRANDALISM featuring artwork by EPISODE

Opening Reception: Friday, November 11, 6-9pm

About Episode
Born and raised on Houston’s north side, Episode has been writing for the past 10 years, creating and making his mark on anything and everything from stickers, markers and paint. Episode’s excitement and passion for street writing helped him get noticed at a young age. His inspirations and influences come from old school NorthSide crews like RAGE*KTK.
In 2000, Episode befriended street artists Weah and Prime. They encouraged him to get serious about his work and start painting legal walls. With that advice, Episode, traveled from city to city painting, and continued to work without taking breaks. This dedication strengthened his technique and style, thus transforming his graffiti to art. Although he continues to be inspired by his fellow street artists, his work continues to be graffiti-based.
Episode’s consistent and personal style are reflect in his work where he breaks down the anatomy of a letter, stylizing them using layering techniques of monochromatic color schemes and shading to create a three-dimensional object in a two-dimensional space.
