Local Arts coordinator is seeking a graffiti artist to give a live demonstration of graffiti art at their Spring Arts Festival on April 13th at Stevenson Park Friendswood. They will have artist/crafter vendors, live entertainment, food, and a children’s make and take area. They are wanting to have a backdrop made to showcase their booth and help promote. The Summit brings in thousands of people to the show (Feb. 17th). The goal is to also help promote a local artist in the Houston area.

OPEN THE DOOR PUBLIC ART PROJECT with Texas -French Alliance in Houston, Texas. Submissions deadline to the OPEN THE DOOR contest is January 20 th and is fast approaching (please see guideline attached). We only need a design and a statement from you at this point. Final Submission DUE DATE: January 20th, 2013For two weeks in the spring of 2013, twelve professional artists from France and Texas will each turn one side of a door into a work of art. They are part of a groundbreaking public art project called OPEN THE DOOR, originated by the Texan-French Alliance for the Arts (TFAA) and the Paris art collective 9eme Concept, and seek to break down social barriers and cultural stereotypes while focusing on intercultural understanding. In addition to our guest artists’ creations, OPEN THE DOOR seeks design submissions by Houston artistic teams from educational and artistic institutions who will collaborate with the artists to create their own doors. Submissions will be selected by a panel of jurors, and are sought from the following institutions: The Awty International School, The Glassell School of Art, HSPVA, Lone Star College, Neighborhood Centers, Rice University, The University of Houston Main Campus and Downtown, Westchester Academy for International Studies. more info visit openthedoor-houston.com
